Finance Bill
The government has published draft provisions to be included in Finance Bill 2019-20 together with explanatory notes and other supporting documents.
Corporation tax
A study commissioned by the European economic and social committee found that corporate tax revenues among Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development countries have remained stable as a proportion of GDP over the past 40 years despite a substantial reduction in headline corporate tax rates.
Spending committee
The House of Commons procedure committee has called for the establishment of a Budget committee to examine government spending plans as they pass through parliament. The public accounts committee and Treasury committee oversee how money has been spent but do not scrutinise spending proposals at an earlier stage.
