Probate fees

The government has abandoned its plans to increase probate fees. So the fixed fee of £155 for applications made by solicitors and the charge of £215 for those made by individuals for estates valued above £5 000 will remain. A Ministry of Justice spokesperson said: ‘We have listened to concerns around changes to those charged for probate and will look at them again as part of a wider review to make sure all fees are fair and proportionate.’

The draft ITTOIA 2005 (Amendments to Chapter 2A of Part 5) Regulations 2019 amend the rules introduced by FA 2019 taxing royalties from intellectual property held by multinational groups in low tax jurisdictions where these royalties are referable to UK sales.
