Tolley’s Taxation Awards

The shortlist for Tolley’s Taxation Awards has been announced. The winners will be announced at the awards night on 

16 May 2019. 

MTD

HMRC has updated its guidance for businesses joining Making Tax Digital (MTD) for VAT from 1 April or 1 October to confirm that those paying VAT by direct debit cannot sign up in the seven working days before or the five working days after sending a VAT return.

ERS bulletin

Employment Related Securities Bulletin 31 includes articles on: notifying errors in EMI options new valuation form 231 annual returns and changes to HMRC addresses.

Digitalisation

The Delivery of Tax Information through Software (Ancillary Metadata) Regulations SI 2019/360 requires suppliers of MTD-compatible software to ensure that any tax-related information delivered to HMRC is accompanied by the relevant metadata as prescribed by HMRC for fraud detection purposes.
