SA returns

A record 299 419 returns were filed in the first week of the new tax year HMRC has revealed. There were 57 815 early filers on the opening day compared to 67 870 people who filed on 6 April 2024.

Child benefit

Parents of 16 to 19 year olds can go online to extend their child benefit claim to guarantee payments in September. Between May and July HMRC will send letters to parents reminding them to confirm if their teenager is staying in full time education or approved training after they finish their GCSEs to continue receiving their child benefit.
