More than 4.4m VAT returns submitted through MTD

At 15 April 2020, some 1.4 million businesses have signed up to making tax digital (MTD) for VAT and more than 4.4m VAT returns have been submitted through the service. 

In its digital services April update, HMRC states it is continuing to see a positive rate of voluntary sign-ups, and it is monitoring the impact of Covid-19, including on the number of de-registrations from VAT. 

The agent forum re-platforming has been live for seven months and, at the end of March, had more than 773 registered agent subscribers. HMRC says the new ‘knowledge base’ feature is increasingly popular.
