HMRC has published new guidance on how businesses can repay grants received under the self-employment income support scheme (SEISS) to which they were not entitled. If a business has claimed in error been overpaid or would like to make a voluntary repayment the guidance sets out what to do using the government portal.
The scheme guidance has also been updated. It explains that as a result of the extension of the scheme until 19 October 2020 a second and final grant can be claimed from 17 August 2020 and will be available to businesses which have been ‘adversely affected’ by coronavirus on or after 14 July 2020.
