Summer economic update

Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak will give a summer economic update to the House of Commons on 8 July, outlining the next stage in the government’s plan to secure Britain’s recovery from the coronavirus.

A Treasury spokesperson confirmed that this is not a Budget, nor a fiscal event. There will be no new forecast because the chancellor has previously said the big decisions are for the autumn Budget and spending review.
