More than 50,000 taxpayers have used the HMRC app to make £50m in self-assessment payments since February 2022, HMRC has revealed.
In October, more than 6,700 self-assessment taxpayers paid almost £5.9m in tax this way, compared to around 2,500 in February 2022, who paid £1.8m.
The app can be downloaded free from the App Store for iOS or the Google Play Store for Android. Users will need a user ID and password to access their personal information. They can set this up while using the app.
