Value of UK exports to EU reached £174bn in 2024-25

UK business achieved £174bn in exports to the 27 member states of the EU in the past year (year end 31 January 2025) up 22% on the £143bn exported to the EU in 2020-21 at the time of Brexit according to research from Lubbock Fine.

The firm says UK business exports to the EU have achieved strong growth despite the effects of Brexit.

However over the same period UK exports to non-EU countries grew by 46% which is a sign that exports to EU could have grown at an even greater rate if some of the post-Brexit red tape on trade with the EU can be removed.

Some of the barriers facing UK businesses when trading with the EU include:

  • Customs declarations: Businesses exporting to the EU now need to complete rules of origin checks VAT registrations and obtain export health certificates...
