Walk for the tax charities

01 September 2020
Categories: News

The London Legal Walk has turned ‘virtual’ for 2020, due to the restrictions in place for mass participation events. People can do this 10k walk individually, as a household, or as a socially distanced group of colleagues depending on whether their team is working from home or back in the office on 5 October. There is no set start time for this virtual challenge, so choose a time, route and pace that suits you.

The pandemic has devastated the lives of millions of self-employed people destroying their health and incomes with no warning. In response, TaxAid and Tax Help for Older People jointly developed a coronavirus service to support self-employed people access the government support available through the self-employment income support scheme (SEISS) offering further assistance preparing tax returns where needed. The service was extended to cover the job retention scheme to enable vulnerable agency workers access government support. To continue with this work the charities need funding and events like the London Legal Walk help enormously.

Last year a total of £13,055 (including gift aid) was raised for TaxAid and Tax Help for Older People. Every penny raised directly funded the charities’ work. They aim to do even better this year with a target of £15,000. For more information, contact Rose Over at bridgethegap@taxvol.org.uk.

Anyone unable to walk or complete the 10xChallenge with the charities but who would like to support their work please donate at: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-display/showROFundraiserPage?userUrl=BridgetheGap20&pageUrl=5.
