It's only Monday, and yet this week's Taxation news briefing is already looking like it'll be a whopper.

The free e-newsletter - delivered every Friday - is designed to keep tax advisers up to date with issues that clients might raise, having read about them in the national papers. (Sign up by sending us an email with the subject line of NEWS BRIEFING.)

Some tax-related stories fall outside the offering's remit and therefore aren't included. That doesn't mean, though, that they're of no interest.

Take, for instance, The Guardian's report this morning, 'Bailed-out Lloyds faces tax avoidance allegations' - which provides an insight into both big business's sneaky financial dealings and The Grauniad's charming fascination with tax avoidance.
