We're putting a board game into the Christmas issue of Taxation, a sort of '2008 in tax' version of snakes and ladders. We're giving you six 'cut out 'n keep' counters to use, each of which is a picture of someone to do with tax. So, we showed our designer the picture we had of George Osborne, taken against the background of a blue sky, to check that it was good enough to use. 'Who's he, then?' she asked. 'I know he's a politician, but I can't remember which one.' Well, who's the most important politician for Taxation, we said (the clue's in the title...). The Chancellor, yes. But she knew it wasn't him, because she had already seen his picture and commented that he needed to dye his hair. Or his eyebrows. Either, just so long as they matched. So back to Osborne: look at the colour of the background, does that suggest anything? 'Oh, so he's the blue version of the Chancellor!' she said. Erm, yes.
