We get the impression that HMRC are not too happy about the 7 February edition of Taxation.
Apparently, they didn’t like all the, shall we say, less than complimentary discussion of their SA Online system.
Oh, dear. What a shame.
Never mind.
What HMRC need to bear in mind is that I was not very happy about the system crashing on 31 January, and not knowing, once it was back working, whether it would let me in to submit my return on time.
In fact, the word ‘incandescent’ probably suited my frame of mind at the time. It probably suited a lot people’s minds at the time.
So, until HMRC can categorically guarantee that their SA Online system can and will cope with the inevitable surge of people filing their returns on 31 January, I think they will just have to put up with the odd article lambasting them for their failure.
