This new feature of Taxation.co.uk will feature all the opinions, thoughts, observations and (we hope) witticisms that we couldn’t or wouldn’t fit into the magazine or on the main website. The launch of this blog comes at the perfect time: as our magazine steps up its Stop the Staff Cuts campaign, with the intention of halting the Government plan to make severe cutbacks at HMRC. Morale at the Revenue is at an astonishing low, following the previous round of redundancies – which saw 13,000 members of staff made jobless – and the recent, much-publicised loss of computer disks containing the confidential details of more than 25 million individuals. To now propose additional cost-cutting measures while HMRC is over-stretched and feeling under-valued is foolish and impractical – and that is why Taxation is dedicated to putting a stop to the plans. Coverage of our campaign will be featured regularly and prominently on our website – and highlights will also appear in our weekly magazine. We urge readers of both formats to join us in our call to the Government by signing the online petition - we're just waiting for the Number 10 e-petitions site to put it up, and will tell you on the website when we have it. Only with your help can our Stop the Staff Cuts campaign be successful.
