New powers
The Government has launched the review of the powers deterrents and safeguards that will underpin HM Revenue and Customs with the publication of a consultation document 'HM Revenue and Customs and the taxpayer: Modernising powers deterrents and safeguards'.
The document can be found on www.inlandrevenue.gov.uk or can be obtained from local tax offices. Comments on the document should be sent by 13 June 2005 to HMRC and the taxpayer Room 1C/03 1st Floor 1 Parliament Street London SW1A 2BQ fax: 020 7147 2460 e-mail: Angela.Shore@ir.gsi.gov.uk.
