Offshore accounts for all!
Rather than reduce the number of offshore accounts held by individuals, it seems that some MPs would like to know more about them … In a recent early day motion, a number of MPs called for them to be made available to everyone:
'That this House recognises that off-shore accounts can play a useful role in reducing an individual's tax liabilities; notes that off-shore accounts are currently used mainly by the very rich; and urges the Government, in the interests of social justice, to make available more information about the workings of off-shore accounts so that all sections of society can benefit from a reduction in their tax burden.'
The whiff of irony hangs heavy!
