The Chancellor was asked about the annual mean average amount of additional tax expected to be paid as a result of the removal of the 0% starting rate of corporation tax by the 720,000 companies expected to be affected by the change and by the 870,000 companies which make less than £10,000 annual profit. John Healey replied that for 2006-07 the amounts would be £690 (median £475) by the 720,000 companies affected and £665 (median £450) by the 870,000 companies making profits of under £10,000.
