Diplomatic PAYE

Some embassies voluntarily operate PAYE on the salaries of their locally employed staff, said Ed Balls. The UK's double tax agreements and UK domestic law dealing with official agents of foreign governments may exempt some employees who are not UK nationals. Mr Balls added that details of which diplomatic missions operate PAYE could not be disclosed 'for reasons of taxpayer confidentiality'.
