Average processing time for applications in February was 12 days

The average processing time for VAT registration applications in February 2008 was 12 days.

This compares to 42 days in August 2007 and 16 days in January 2008.

Jane Kennedy said that the improvement could be explained by the 'measures introduced by HMRC to tackle the difficulties that there have been with registering new businesses for VAT'.
