Tax evasion figures
The number of people in England and Wales who were convicted of tax evasion for the past three tax years:
- 2006/07 - 258
- 2007/08 - 328
- 2008/09 - 226
The solicitor-general explained that more convictions arose in 2007/08 because of a number of long-running, complex prosecutions resulting in successful outcomes.
