No letters for registrants
HMRC are no longer sending written confirmation of the user ID to new registrants of the department's online service.
The department says this will result in significant cost savings and bring processes into line with common web practice across transactional services.
An activation code will continue to be issued by letter, and the Revenue will send reminder letters to taxpayers who lose or forget their user IDs.
