  • Single compliance process is a different more collaborative way of working.
  • It should focus on specific risk areas and be completed much faster.
  • Should private bank statements be disclosed to HMRC just because there has been one payment of business takings into the private account?
  • When is it reasonable to hold further meetings given that they contribute significantly to the client’s costs?

Taxation hosted a half-day meeting of the Tolworth Working Together group in November to look at the new single compliance process (SCP) which is currently in trial.

After a brief introduction most of the afternoon was spent looking at a case study about how the new procedures would work.

As the case study unfolded it was discussed in mixed groups of tax advisers...
