  • HMRC do have a clearance process for non-statutory and non-business matters. If the transaction in question is not covered by another clearance or approval process and it is not covered by departmental guidance then HMRC can be asked for guidance or advice.
     
  • If a taxpayer occupies a property as their only or main residence and it is likely that this will only be for a short period then it is even more important than normal to gather and keep evidence of the quality of the occupation as their main residence.
