Autumn statement

The chancellor of the Exchequer will give his annual autumn statement to parliament on Wednesday 4 December.

Isle of Man

The UK has signed an accord with the Isle of Man to clamp down on those who shelter money offshore. It is the first automatic tax information exchange agreement based on the US Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act to be signed between two parties of which neither are the US.

Charities

HMRC no longer accept gift aid repayment claims made on R68(i) forms. Charitable organisations must now use the charities online service.

QROPS

QROPS forms APSS 251 and APSS 253 have been amended and should be used from 14 October 2013.

Aggregates levy

Revenue and Customs Brief 31/13 provides more information about how the government proposes to suspend certain exemptions, exclusions and reliefs contained within the aggregates levy.

South Africa

South Africa is to join the pilot scheme for the automatic exchange of tax information launched by the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
