The latest Employment-Related Securities Bulletin contains articles on employee share schemes annual returns ERS online service and the Finance Bill. Two topics covered are summarised below.

ERS online service

Some taxpayers reported problems when using the online service for registration and self-certification of employee share schemes and arrangements which went live in April. HMRC say they have resolved most issues but ask that anyone who experiences further difficulties registering or submitting an enterprise management incentive (EMI) notification online call the online services helpdesk on 0300 200 3600.

Where the deadline for notification of an EMI option has been missed solely because of online service issues the employer will be considered to have a reasonable excuse for late notification.

HMRC are interested in users’ views on making online returns. Initial feedback on the returns service suggests users prefer uploading an attachment rather than keying...
