MTD

HMRC has confirmed that there is no date planned for publication of the consultation on making tax digital (MTD). A spokesman said: ‘We welcome and completely understand the keen interest in the next stages of our digital transformation. We will make the consultation documents available as soon as possible. In the meantime we continue to work closely with stakeholders to ensure together we can deliver the digital transformation to which we are committed.’

 

New chancellor

Philip Hammond is the new chancellor of the exchequer after Theresa May’s appointment as prime minister. David Gauke has been appointed as the new chief secretary to the Treasury.

 

Toolkits

HMRC has updated various tax agent toolkits including those for VAT output tax VAT input tax and VAT partial exemption.
