An Australian superannuation fund for a retiree in the UK.

I am a UK national who worked for the same UK company for 40 years until I retired. During that time I spent 12 years overseas (1990 to 2003) with my last five years back in the UK.

While working for the UK company between 1993 and 1998 and from 1999 to 2003 I was permanently based in Australia and non-UK resident for tax purposes. During my second assignment I acquired Australian citizenship so now have dual nationality. While working in Australia I continued to make payments to my UK employer’s company pension scheme as well as paying into a self-funded Australian pension fund which has remained in place since I left Australia returning permanently to the UK in 2003. No further payments have been made to the pension fund in Australia since leaving.
