Latest round-up of news for tax agents.

HMRC’s latest Agent Update  contains a round-up of news for tax agents. The department is reviewing the design purpose and content of the publication and invites comments from readers. These should be emailed to mailbox.digitalsupport@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk by 2 June 2017.

In the latest edition the Revenue highlights articles covering changes to the CT600 form to accommodate Budget 2016 provisions on state aid franked investment income and restitution interest changes to tax relief for residential landlords and the relaunched fraud hotline.

In addition the update states that taxpayers but not their advisers can now appeal online against a penalty for late filing of a self-assessment tax return.

Among the news on PAYE matters HMRC says it will no longer provide agents with details of clients’ pay and tax by phone but will send the information in writing to the taxpayer.
