HMRC’s bimonthly update for February published.

Employer Bulletin 70 the February edition of HMRC’s bi-monthly update contains articles on various subjects including end-of-year reporting employer overpayments the new rules for termination payments the apprenticeship levy and managed service companies.

End-of-year reporting

The final full payment submission (FPS) or employer payment summary (EPS) of the year – up to and including 5 April 2018 – needs to include an indicator that it is the final submission. Some commercial payroll software does not have this facility in which case the employer should send their last FPS and then forward an EPS with the indicator ticked.

Employers have until 31 May 2018 to give a P60 end-of-year certificate to employees.

If the employer finds a mistake on an FPS they can correct this by sending another FPS by 19 April. After that date ...
