Treasury fraud squad

The Treasury has created a new public sector fraud authority to recover money stolen from the Covid support schemes and to crack down on other organised financial criminal activity. Operational in July and based in the Cabinet Office the new £25m body will double funding for the government’s central counter fraud capacity.
