More opportunities for more people in tax 

Last week I had the great pleasure of attending the 30th anniversary celebrations of the Association of Taxation Technicians at the London Transport Museum. As a proud member of the association and indeed as a former president I am of course biased but I do think it is right to acknowledge in these pages the contribution that it has made to our profession over those 30 years.

Of particular note is the way that the ATT has helped to open the profession to wider groups of entrants through its various foundation and diploma qualifications. School leavers individuals returning to work after a career break or people working their way up from humble beginnings now have opportunities for professional development in tax which would have been inconceivable in 1989.
