In a time of economic chaos...

A time of uncertainty and upheaval...

When taxes rose and cold rain fell...

One man had the courage to take a stand...

A lone accountant with £500 and a dream...

A dream to reshoot Top Gun. And make it really, really short.

Congratulations to Mark Wong of KMPG, who was the winner of this year's Empire film award for best 60-second remake.

His version of Tony Scott's high-flying blockbuster includes most of the '86 original's best-known set-pieces, including the bar karaoke, the homoerotic beach volleyball, and Goose's ejector-seat-related death. The corniest lines are there, too. ("I feel the need... the need for speed!")

Part of the minute-long movie, which cost half a grand, was shot at RAF Lakenheath, Suffolk, home of the USAF 48th Fighter Wing.

It was written by Mark Wong, directed by Mark Wong, produced by Mark Wong and stars Mark Wong – who collected his gong at Empire's weekend prize ceremony while dressed in American navy summer whites.
