This week's opinion

This week’s issue reveals the shortlist for this year’s Taxation awards. Congratulations to all those firms and individuals nominated and commiserations to those who were not. We had an exceptionally high level of interest in some of the categories and the judges had to make some tough decisions about who would make the cut.

I enjoy chairing the judging panel and reading the entries (and yes I do read them all!) because it gives me a good snapshot of the state of our industry. Several things struck me this year. First was the way that firms are responding to the challenges and opportunities of technology. This is not just about using apps or the cloud but rethinking their whole compliance and advisory process from start to finish to harness the power that digital working brings.
